When we furnish and decorate our house, some useful little tricks can make the difference. It's an interesting subject, so I would like to speak about it in more articles, not to risk that you will get crazy to follow the big numbers of suggestions I have. You need time to consider them and decide how to use these ideas in your house, without it gets a hard work.
Ideas, inspirations and some rules to furnish your house. Some secrets for a good style where to live explained by some examples. What gives harmony to a big room? A spectacular fireplace, original furniture, a lot of space......imagine all these things, what can be wrong? Big rooms become easily banal. Rule No. 1 You can have more furniture. Big rooms like having big furniture, XXL sofas, many chairs, big lamps, because these things can easily find their space.
Rule No. 2 Big rooms have to be structured. For example: you can divide optically the living room from the dining room. Both these parts get more well-defined. A big sofa can be used as a barrier between the two parts creating different perfect corners.
Rule No. 3 Get a family! The bigness of the room doesn't have to create a division among the members of the family. For example: who writes something at the table doesn't have to feel far away from the one who reads on the sofa. Important is that you don't lose the sense of the space! Colors must fit together. Not to create separations use the same shade of color and repeat the most intense one more times. In this way everybody can understand this was your wish. How many decorations do we really need in our bedroom? All the decorations in our bedroom have to give us peace and quiet to sleep well. This is why we should be surrounded by beautiful things, things we love.
Little tables, consoles, the border of the fireplace, the windowsills are at the same level of our eyes? All these places are perfect for decorations! It's your choice how to decorate. My suggestion is to use three objects. It's easier to find a connection with three things than with two, to make it harmonic and give the right relationship. The best option is to put two objects near to each other and the third one a little more far away. What is the difference between minimal and empty?
Piling doesn't mean cold! If you see a room completely covered by resin or piling and you look carefully, it looks like something soft, feminine and you wish to coddle it. Pay attention choosing the furniture to keep the beauty of simplicity. Every single furniture or decoration has a main role in the room, because these pure materials (as piling and resin) are like a mirror that reflects everything. For example: if you put an old black leather sofa with a little glass table and then you exaggerate with the decorations on the windowsill, you will lose the minimal atmosphere. My choice would be a design sofa or one covered completely with linen. Can we appeal the look? If you have a window in the room, you will automatically look in this direction and all that is on its “way” will be seen!
There is a rule: every room has to have an optical center! This can be a window, a fireplace, a big mirror or a nice painting, so we will look in this direction. Who enters into this room will feel relaxed and guided. All the rest in the room is just background to this optical center! How match Ethnic? Do you love ethnic style and do you bring a piece home from all your trips? Take care that there is ethnic and ethnic, it depends on where it comes from!
One thing is furniture in ethnic style, another is collecting little things from around the world. Do you love a specific ethnic style? Follow it consequently! It means from the furniture to the little tiny things. It's not important if you dream a bedroom as “The Thousands and One Night” or only a bathroom in Morocco style.
You can generally mix Ethnic with other styles, from design to romantic look, but be careful: don't mix different ethnic styles (Morocco, Kenya or Thailand)! Use only one type or your house will look like a flea market!
